I-Media Frequent Student Questions

  1. What type of computer is needed to play the CDs?

All packages require a multimedia Pentium computer less than 3 years old. Win98 or XP operating system, at least 64 MB of RAM and a 12x or faster CD player with speakers or headphones attached. Some older computer DVD players actually play CDs at 4x speed and may not work well with the media on the CDs. Sorry we don't support Mac computers.

  2. Do I need any special software to play these CDs?

No. All the required media players are included with the packages. Most of the CDs do not require any additional software to be installed on the computer.

  3. Do I need to be connected to the Internet while I play the CDs?

Most often the answer is No. Most of the presentations are played directly from the CD. Sometimes an Internet link will be provided for a few documents, and in some cases it is necessary to be online while taking a quiz or test.

  4. How were the CDs created?
  5. This is a group effort - Faculty work with I-Media's technical and media experts to create these CDs. Our goal is to provide distance students with a similar or superior experience to attending class. Our media team recorded faculty lectures on video or audio and combined them with enhanced graphic and text presentations to create the CDs. We have edited out all the normal classroom interruptions, announcements etc. so that only the informational content is included. A 2 hour classroom experience is often reduced to 30 to 60 minutes of presentations. We break this up into manageable segments of 10 to 20 minutes in length. In some CDs additional text documents, PDF documents, glossaries, web links, graphics and animation are added. Finally, our graphics team creates an opening segment and menu linked to the content and presentations to make the CD easy to use.

  6. How long will it take to receive the CDs?

Most orders are shipped within 2 days of the order receipt. We use Priority Mail which usually takes 2 to 5 days to deliver anywhere in the US However, occasionally we will be working with faculty to modify or improve the CD content for the next class and thus will hold shipments until the modifications are completed. We have a goal of always shipping at least one week before classes begin. When you place the order online, you can request Overnight mail or Federal Express if you need to receive it faster.

  7. How do I order?
  8. Most students use our secure online ordering form. It is easy and fast and saves 15% to 20% off the bookstore price! Simply choose the products you want, and fill in your shipping and billing information. We take Mastercard, Visa, and American Express. Always look for the lock in the lower part of your Internet Browser window when filling in your credit card. The lock means the page is encrypted. We keep your information secret. We don't give out your e-mail, credit card, or address information to anyone! If you have any problems ordering online, please call our customer support at 541-535-5552 and we can take your information over the phone.

  9. How much does shipping cost?

Shipping is calculated based on the number of products ordered and your location. For example, orders shipped in the Northwest are usually between $9.50 and $12.50 when Priority Mail is selected. Overnight mail and Federal Express are between $16.50 and $25.00. The shipping charges include a $5 handling fee to cover the cost of processing credit cards and ordering online.

  10. Can I return the CDs?

Return Policy: All of our products are guaranteed to work. If the CD is not operational we will replace the CD. You can return a package within 15 DAYS of receipt of the package and we will refund your money minus shipping and a restocking fee. Please check to make sure that products are required for a class before you purchase them.
